Low Vision Simulator

The image below is of the Mockingbird eating an orange, which is part of our mural facing Andrews Avenue here in downtown Fort Lauderdale.  This low vision simulator is one way to help you understand how the world is experienced by someone with a visual impairment.  People without a visual impairment may gather as much as 90 percent of their knowledge through the sense of sight. Simulations like these can illustrate the very real phenomenon of visual fatigue experienced by many people with low vision. This simulation is intended to help you better understand how a person with low vision may be able to see some things and not others. Everyone with low vision sees differently, even with the same condition, as vision loss is a spectrum of mild, moderate, and severe.  Please take a moment and try out the various eye conditions below.
