For clients ages 19 and above, the Lighthouse offers comprehensive rehabilitation programs and services. Our certified instructors and case managers tailor our services to the needs and goals of each client, which may include a goal of higher education, employment, and/or increased independence. We offer training in the areas of daily living skills, mobility, technology, Braille, and more to support your goals.
Lighthouse of Broward strives to meet the needs of each client and understands that each person learns at a different pace, and has personalized objectives to meet those needs. With this in mind, each client has input on what he or she wants to learn and instruction is tailored to each client.
Orientation & Mobility
Training in safe and independent travel in the home, school, on the job, and out in the community
Activities of Daily Living
Techniques for money management, household maintenance, personal grooming, record keeping, organization, medication management and more
Self-Advocacy & Resources
Training provides our clients knowledge of their rights and responsibilities, helps our clients to speak up for their rights, and use knowledge of resources to make choices and decisions that affect their lives
Diabetes Management
Training focused on providing information on living with Diabetes and teaching self-care strategies
Counseling & Support Groups
Individual and group counseling assist with adjustment to vision loss and related topics
Assistive Technology
Training on the use of assistive technology hardware and software to enable access to specialized and mainstream devices, including computers, smartphones, and tablets
Case Management
A case manager will work with you to provide information and help you obtain services, both within and beyond the Lighthouse
