The Lighthouse of Broward is the only full-service 501(c)3 serving people with visual impairments in Broward County, Florida.  We reach over 2,500 people who are blind or visually impaired in our community annually.  We are recognized by Charity Navigator and GuideStar as having the highest ratings, showing our dedication to our mission. We take a collaborative approach, combining our knowledge and resources to help our clients toward their goals of independence, employment, and/or educational success. Intake Specialist/Case Manager

Summary:  Provides case management to  adult Lighthouse clients who are blind or visually impaired.

Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments

Summary:  travels to the assigned student to provide direct and/or consultative special education services relating to vision loss. Services for infants may be provided in the infants' homes or child care settings. The students range in age from birth through 14 and may have only a visual impairment or additional disabilities. The cognitive levels of the students range from severely impaired to gifted and talented.

Keyboarding Instructor

Provides instruction in touch typing and keyboarding skills, with an emphasis on adaptive techniques to support individuals with visual impairments and other disabilities in achieving greater independence. The role requires patience and the ability to work with clients who may need repetitive practice to build proficiency.

Orientation and Mobility Specialist

Provides sequential instruction to individuals with visual impairment in the use of their remaining senses to determine their position within the environment and in techniques for safe movement from one place to another.  Clients may or may not have additional handicapping conditions.  Clients may be of any age.
