Dear Friends,
We're thrilled to bring you the latest news from the heart of the Lighthouse of Broward! As you know, our rehabilitation programs are essential, but we've also been focusing on social activities. We've seen firsthand how these activities not only bring joy and laughter into your lives but also create a sense of community and belonging that is truly invaluable.
Our calendar is jam-packed with exciting activities like bingo, zumba, arts and crafts, movie days, book clubs, trivia, and more. They're not just about having fun; they're about connecting with your community, learning new things, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life together. We hope you join us!
We're absolutely thrilled to share that our recent Heroes 2024 benefit concert, done in collaboration with American Heritage, was a smashing success. With approximately 250 attendees we managed to raise an impressive $66,000! This support means the world to us and allows us to continue our important work.
Now, let's talk about summer. We've got an amazing lineup of camps planned for our kids. For the younger kids at our Children's Summer Camp, they'll embark on exciting field trips, engage in hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) projects to foster creativity and critical thinking, and participate in a wide range of fun activities.
As for the older teens, they will be attending the the TeenLife Summit in Orlando. Here, they'll have the opportunity to participate in a series of engaging activities and attend presentations by visually impaired professionals, gaining insights into different career paths and life experiences. Following the summit, they will transition into the TeenLife Traditional Camp. They'll delve into practical skills such as leadership development, communication techniques, and career exploration to help them navigate their transition into adulthood and pursue their passions with confidence.
Last but not least, mark your calendars for our upcoming fundraiser, the Bank of America Starlight Musicals! On July 12th, 2024, from 7 pm to 10 pm, head to Holiday Park (located at East Sunrise Blvd and Federal) for the Starlight Musicals, a fabulous free event! We are honored to have been chosen again for the Starlight Musicals outdoor concert brought to you by The City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation and Bank of America. Get ready for an enchanting night filled with country music and entertainment under the stars. The event also includes exciting raffles that you won’t want to miss out on!
Thank you for being a part of our LHOB community. We're so grateful for each and every one of you.
With Gratitude,
Ellyn Drotzer, MSW, LCSW
President and CEO
